Building a Home Theater PC for my kids?
I like to build a home theater PC for my daughters. Nothing fancy, no Blu-ray, no case particular, a simple computer that can connect to your TV. What I want to do is put all your DVDs on your computer for Media Center when it boots up turn on the computer (XP or Vista), and be able to select your movie and it will play. I do not want to tear some poor quality video to save space, however, garbage out Fast Play 'all rubbish "Disney likes to put on and only allow the film to play would be fantastic. It's my way of putting disks away and not have to worry about my three year old widower. Is there an easy way to do this?
The easiest way I can think to do this is to use half CENTER Windows XP PC. Make sure that you want to connect to TV monitor has an RGB input cable and an audio input for PC. Connect the PC to the TV with these cables and change the properties MediaCenter to load at startup. make sure you get some decent software to copy DVDs that you set. As the elimination of all bonus features and Quick Play rubbish in a program like DVD decoder must be able to extract the files. However, you will have to convert as I do not think MC can play a video (ISO DVD) and TS (DVD Audio) files. DVDs are encoded with the video and audio separately so you need the disk to play together. An alternative is to download the files through a torrent site in avi format. MC definitely play avi files. I http://isohunt.com used to find the cinema, and a program called utorrent.
