I want to build a custom home theater using the car audio. What do I need?
I want low key. I want something to confuse home. I will use my TV output to any amp. My real problem is the power converter. Be amplifiers cars need lots of energy.
Everyone here has been giving answers that you mean, by what is in place telling you what to do instead, I will tell you how I do. It is possible, and of course, a real home stereo, would be much better, but this is what you know, so I'll say. Now, I'm making some assumptions such as that here's all the speakers you want to hook up some wires and cables, amplifiers, speakers for your subwoofers and speakers, and any crosses that may need for your speakers if they are two or three way speakers. You seem to know what you're doing when it connect an audio system goes, so I'll leave all that up to you, what is now reduced to the last step - Connection of power and land. Depending on your amplifiers, you will use a lot of power to use an extreme amount power. This will cause your electric bill goes up considerably. The best thing I think would get a powerful converter such as Kendrick Astro Instruments 120V, 10 Amp power supply that converts 120VAC to 12VDC with an output of 10 amp. Then I hook up to their amplifiers. You will also have to find something better as far as a remote turn-on for their amps. I'm really not entirely sure how they work, I'm not sure if the head unit your car sends a steady flow of electricity to the amplifiers to let them know to stay in or as a download is quick to say "hey, turn in" You please consult the manufacturer of your amp (s). This system is by no means recommended by the FCC, but what the hell does he know, right? have fun the walls!
