If someone approaches you and tries to explain that the DVD player is now a thing of the past, taken seriously, in fact, very seriously! With the advent of optical disc formats powerful as HD DVD (High Definition DVD) and Blu-ray Disc visual media is set to take a generation leap.
Its popularity is increasing with each passing day, as they are proliferating to the conscience of the common man through other popular media. Never mind that the Blu-ray Disc PS3 is compatible with the immensely popular and even the hugely successful (if controversial) "Vinci Code 'was also released on a Blu-ray Disc! This makes one of the formats is well known among the younger generation. But then the HD DVD format is not left behind by too much.
Microsoft's Xbox 360 HD DVD is already making waves in the market for almost a year and be the cheapest of the two, HD DVD Player is preferred by users. Also the portable DVD are in great demand in the market and many of them support these HD DVD formats which make them even more attractive to the user.
But if we speak the quality of Blu-ray Disc is much better, since it has a higher numerical aperture, the far greater storage capacity (either single or dual layer) and data and rates video transfer is substantially higher in the Blu-ray on HD DVD or a normal portable DVD player.
With top brands such as Samsung, Philips, Panasonic, Pioneer, Toshiba and other equipment of their DVD players and portable DVD players to support either of these two very powerful disc formats and advanced marketing war between the two brands was almost inevitable. However, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Nevada (USA) in January 2007 Warner Bros filed the HD total, following the footsteps of the global electronics giant LG. These highly advanced discs will be compatible with both HD DVD and Blu-ray DVD.
Will this be the end of the format war? Well, it's a difficult decision to make, especially when a company like LG (who specialize in the manufacture household appliances instead of optical disc formats) decides to do something to quench the fire of the format war is bound to be very interesting.
