How do I connect my PS3 to my Home Theater?
I need to know what cables and things I need to connect. I have a Panasonic SC-Stero system HT822V and Panasonic 720p HDTV. Anyone have any ideas? I thought it was as easy as buying a new cable, but do not know which one?
For video, connect the PS3 to your HDTV with an HDMI cable either (any HDMI cable to do - buy the cheapest you can find) If your HDTV is not compatible with HDMI, component cable buy PS3 and use it. HDMI is better because it is a single cable and provides a better picture of higher resolution, but at 720p, the component works well. For surround sound, connect the PS3 to a stereo system through an optical audio cable (again, buy the cheapest you can find, there will be no problem.) Log on PSN (it's free) and update the firmware to 3.0.1. Go to audio settings, and select the option that allows audio through multiple outputs. If you do not go online at all, sure to configure the audio settings of your PS3 to use the optical audio cable for audio. Set the TV input on the PS3 is connected, and set the system stereo to the entrance where is connected the optical audio cable. That's all there is to do.
