Home Theater System hum when connected to the PC sound card?
I have my home theater system RCA cables with a minijack adapter connected to my card PC sound. Me a buzz, so I'm guessing my sound card is not compatible with 5.1. An external sound card 5.1 that I see on ebay make it stop ringing? I can only put on the right and left on my receiver. The speakers are powered by the Subcommittee and the Subcommittee is powered by the receiver. Hope that makes sense.
Tinnitus can be a ground loop. Make sure that both equipment and receiver are connected in the same circuit. Bad connections / connectors are a good source hum and hum too. Some types of surge protectors have circuits to prevent ground loops from different pieces of equipment. This can also work for you. Optical inputs also prevent this.
