Home theater receiver without digital and optical inputs?
I have an old home theater receiver that has only two groups of 2 channels (left and right) audio inputs and has multichannel inputs (left, right, center, left rear, right rear, sub) no digital / coaxial, optical, or HDMI inputs. My problem is that my TV, Blu-ray, and Xbox 360 only have digital / coaxial, optical, or HDMI outputs. Is there anyway to connect any of my devices to my receiver? To clarify, I want to connect my devices to the inputs for multichannel surround sound. Thanks for the input. but the problem with buying a new receiver is that I have all five speakers surround sound and my sub has a built-in amplifier and a receiver. There is a decoder or preamp autonomous basically become a / coaxial digital output a multi-channel output before connecting to my receiver?
Not unless your Blu-ray has multichannel outputs. Some do, some do not. The disadvantage of the connections multichannel analog is that it requires the player to decode the advanced audio tracks to benefit from them, and because connections bypass analog signal digital processing in the receiver to lose any benefits (eg, equal noise). Moreover, unless the player has some ability to manage severe to lose that.
