It improves the speaker wires needed for the Harman Kardon CP40 Home Theater System?
Im planning on purchasing this product, and when I saw the speaker wires which is pretty thin. I mean it sounds good, but still improves the speaker wire make a difference? Also what gauge should aim at CP40 system?
You can change the cables, but will not extend the cables at distances much larger than the original cable allows you significant gains no benefit (except perhaps feel better). The reason people care for great length of small gauge wire, because if the cable increases the total impedance (resistance) of the speakers changes the total frequency response ... mainly a reduction in production throughout the entire audio spectrum ... very long distances and additional effects begin selectively roll-off of higher frequencies. Note that this last effect is more or less independent of the size Cable ... total length that matters. Indeed least the "rule" is to keep the total resistance of the speaker cable to less than 5% of the speaker impedance and the total length under 50 feet (15 m). This means that for a "normal" 8 ohms, even if the wire was 22 AWG (very small) wire can be 12 feet (4 m) long. See the table in the article at the link. Of course it will not hurt to change the thicker cable for something, and if you play your system is strong and well that one ear can hear a slight difference. If it's worth it to you.
