What is the first step in installing a home theater?

What is the first step in installing a home theater? My plan includes: Seat bands lighting projector motorized projection screen surround sound theater media cabinet Acoustic sound testing (no sound). them in order, if you can. Thanks Wow, 2 guys gave me a great deal of information and even more things to think (not being sarcastic). Many thanks.

On the basis of only their list, assuming you have already wired, the order is not much different. Here are a couple of things to consider first, that not on your list: Since you have a room dedicated to work, you have some considerations before setting your final design. The difference between a good theater and a theater impressive room is 50% and 50% equipment. Decisions to make: 1. Sound proofing. If the room is big enough you can build a room inside your room studwalls the amazing new, floor and ceiling and the placement of a special material between the walls. The floors are suspended as engine mounts on a car. 2. SPlaying sidewalls. If you build an inner-room you must do the side walls unparalleled. A room 20 feet in depth should be two feet wide at the back, at least. 3. Breaking the ceiling. If you build an interior room or not, change the shape of the flat roof? I like to build a mesh network that looks like the waves of a wave below, then that drywalled, but there are endless possibilities here. My roof hangs from the ceiling curved real and does not extend to the walls in any address. This allows the striking lighting designs. 4. Booster seats. If you are planning rows, you'll want to choose your seat now properly The cables can be installed to control wiring Crestron, AMX, etc. .. Best option is to have the eyes even with the center of the screen vertically and horizontally. If you married, you may want to split the difference and share the best seating position. 5. Before any construction begins, the team must be chosen so that the wiring CNA is correct installed in the walls. I would not use 16 / 2 or 16 / 4 in a dedicated theater. That wire is enveloping family room. I would recommend 12 or 14 non-oxidizing high caliber speaker cable chapter of the account. 6. The most important components in any system are the speakers, screen and the remote control. Those are the elements that we interface with and therefore shows the best performance per dollar spent. The shelf full of boxes is much more forgiving than mediocre interface devices! 7. Projectors, screens are now available that will adjust to the width of a 2.35:1 image motion and movies can be viewed at 24 fps, as in the theater. This is a substantial improvements in fixed standard 16:9 with 30 fps limitation. Several companies are now doing as projectors. I like Runco, JVC Vidicron and anamorphic lens. 8. Speakers can be hidden behind a front wall of imitation, even if you do not build an interior room. Side and rear speakers can be hidden in the walls architectural details. Picking speakers is much more complex than I can write about here. 9. The control of a theater can be a nightmare or a breeze. All depends on the control system and the programmer. Today, I would choose between Crestron, AMX or LifeWare. There are less expensive, lower performance options as RTI, Pronto, Nevo, that work very well. 10. Separate processors and amps are great, but I've had good luck with high-end receivers from Yamaha, Marantz and also PioneerElite and cost less money. Depending on the rest of your theater, you might even be able to use the lower end line of Marantz, Denon. 11. The cables do not have to be the best, but things do not buy bargain basement either. I use Ethereal to low-cost facilities and Tributaries in pleasant rooms. 12. Regardless of the stage design, hire a professional to make the room sound, audio calibration and calibration of the display to SMPTE standards. An ISF certified technician is right for display, Certifed HAA technology is good and affordable and a sound level that THX 2 high technology will be qualified to calibrate the audio. NOTE: acoustic room costs more, and is the most valuable! I hope this is some help. Good luck and have fun with your project!
