As a kid I loved going to the movies. It was not just the movie or the popcorn that created an environment for me was also decorated such as theater seating rows and the red curtains which separated when the film began.
Now that I've gotten older I've noticed that many of the new movie houses have changed. They have no curtains covering the screen and the whole building does not smell of fresh popcorn as it did when I was a kid.
If I wanted to recreate that feeling, I realized I was going to have to do in my own home. With all the options available on the decoration film at home I learned that the design of my own home theater would not be that hard.
Obviously I started with my projector and all other things that come with it, like the screen and sound system. Once I got all those things it was time that the room feels like the movies of my youth.
The next thing I got was a traditional theater seats, you know, that fold when someone is not sitting on them. This time I can assure you that no gum stuck at the bottom of them and do not stain with gallons of soda spilled on them.
The only thing that really ties the room together, however, is the artwork I have. I bought a special frame with lights to show the movie poster for the movie I enjoyed as a child. I also had several lobby cards to put in the corners of the room.
I thought they did until I found a vintage looking popcorn machine. I love that I can sit and enjoy some of my favorite movies and if I close my eyes I feel like I did when I was young.
