Help for home theater projector.?
I was thinking of getting a home theater projector for me and I wondered, what aspects need? and must be i get? Please try and remember that I am on a budget. I was thinking the IN2102EP InFocus. Is that good for my needs? Is there something I am overlooking? Thanks for your help.
A projector is a great way to go ... I would never return to TV for viewing movies or HDTV programming. For HT needs are slightly different from a classroom or business setting. You need a high-resolution projector and processing as possible, a good video, high contrast, low fan noise, the ability to connect the DVI or HDMI inputs, and usually (due to the dark room easily achievable) do not need high brightness Lamp (eg, 1500 lumens is sufficient). It is also desirable - but not essential - to have a wide ratio zoom lens and lens capability displacement for easier installation. Size, type, etc are secondary. The InFocus you suggest (see link for specifications) is designed to classroom use. Not a bad choice, but the contrast ratio of 2000:1 is at the lower end of the range recommended for use HT. The 800x600 (SVGA) resolution native is back at the lower end of acceptable for use HT. The real weakness is the lack of any digital input (though component video via a VGA adapter is an acceptable alternative, given the capability of resolution). That said, almost as good as you would get for the price (and better than other alternatives) InFocus and are a good manufacturer. See links to reviews and a lot of information on projectors.
