Need to replace an aging big-screen TV. see if this solution makes sense.?
My wife is a lot of TV, especially now with a broken leg. I want to upgrade to a projector and 100 "screen. When I built my house, I had a place in the home theater with no windows and seats viewers. The life of the DLP projector lamp is 2000 hours. My wife will burn through that in 2001 hours. I thought I could put a 32 "LCD TV on the wall and install a drop for the projector screen. In this way, could Oprah on the screen, and movies on the projector. Can not see any problem with this before you leave and drop for $ 5K on this?
Makes sense to me, though the LCD TV size will depend on how far you sit from it. In other words, if more than 10-15 feet away, and the LCD TV is too small, she can use the projector, and then it has gotten the $ $ in the LCD TV. Nuthin 'in my humble opinion, get a low-cost plasma (Dell, HP, and Panasonic) - maybe 43-50 inches. You can probably do this for $ 2-2.5K. PS: Do not buy a good plasma (Pioneer) or you may start hating your projector aa: -)
