Any idea that does not work on home theater projector - "In Focus" Screenplay 4805?

Having a home theater projector with a built-in (attatched to the roof) - In Focus Screenplay 4805. However, the bulb burned some months ago and replaced it ($ 350) - worked fine. Just today, as we were viewing, the picture went black (no pop or flash or anything) and the projector sounded as if it were operating, then leave, and then turn on again, etc, but no image. When working properly, has a bit of background noise (I think the fan to cool the bulb on and off as needed), but the sound was too Frequently, as he was trying to work but would not, then try again several times. Even after letting them cool down and restart everything - nothing. I took the bulb and see nothing obviously wrong with it. I do not want to spend another $ 350 and discover that it is the bulb. Anyone with similar problems or ideas to test without spending much money cash in a service call? Thanks

Apart from some type of failure in electronics (which will require service), I would consider two possibilities. The suggestion that the fan could have come in more often raises the suspicion that the bulb could have been overheating and causing a shutdown (On the other hand, if the cooling and restart the job can not be that the bulb is dead again). At least, follow the suggestions for cleaning (see link) to see if this makes a difference. The second suggestion is to check that the lamp timer is reset after changing the lamp last time. The way to read the manual, if the number of hours exceeding the nominal life of the lamp will not start, and if not reset (hold down both "volume" buttons ten seconds) change even after a new lamp will not start. Not very likely ... but it could be that simple. If none of these things help, I think it's time to get in contact with the support of InFocus to see if they have any other suggestions.
