Playstation 3 TV audio output HDMI problem?

Can not get audio through my speaker system home theater via an HDMI cable to my PS3. My receiver is only a small "home theater" no big deal. However, my PS3 is connected directly to your TV via an HDMI cable. I get audio through my TV, but not in my speakers. HDMI me realize I need to go through an audio receiver then the TV for surround sound, but simply do not have such equipment. Is there a way that you can use an image as HDMI and send audio differently on my receiver? I would like the sound come out through my speakers. I'm looking for some kind of cheap solution, if possible, and I realize that I will not do proper justice audio. Is there a converter rate or something of that nature that I can use?

This is what I did, I connected the HDMI to my TV that has HDMI inputs, my stereo yet is somewhat larger, and therefore does not have HDMI inputs. I connected my PS3 to the HDMI to my TV. I connected the audio output from the PS3 through toslink (fiber, digital audio) for my stereo, and made sure to select in the PS3 audio output passes through the toslink connection. It fills me with Dolby Digital audio out as well image quality 1080p w / HDMI. If you have an optical audio input on your stereo you try this method, if not then you'll have to look at the buying a new receiver installation.
